We are aware of the concerns around Tideswell surgery now operating as a respiratory assessment centre. NHS England have asked us to do this. Working in this way, with low risk patients being seen temporarily in Bakewell, is much safer for our patients and NHS workforce. Patients with COVID symptoms need to be looked after in a safe way that maintains their dignity. This disease can affect any of us. We are grateful for local support we have with this.

Dear patients, it is a big concern to us that some people locally think we will not be affected by the corona virus. Currently there are patients with the virus who are critically ill in Chesterfield and Sheffield. As doctors we suspect we have been seeing cases in Bakewell and the surrounding areas since early this year. Prescription collections times are now:
9am-11am and 2.30pm-4.30pm Mon-Fri.
This is now being done through a window in the surgery to ensure safer delivery. You will be asked to pay by contactless card when possible to reduce infection risk.
If you are struggling to collect your prescription because you are unable to get out please contact us on or call reception if you do not have access to the internet.
Please order medications online wherever possible using either the NHS app or Patient Access App. This will help keep you safe in your home and will reduce contact.
You will not have to provide ID at this time to be able to register for online access in order to obtain your medication.
Anyone needing to be seen at the Surgery will be have a telephone call from a GP first and will be asked questions with regards to coronavirus symptoms.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VERY VULNERABLE PATIENTS
The NHS are sending letters out to certain people who are advised to ‘shield’ themselves for 12 weeks due to them being at high risk of covid 19.
The need to do ‘shielding’ rather than self-isolation or social distancing, only applies to a small number of our patients of whom most have already been contacted e.g. cancer patients on active treatment, those people with no spleen, rheumatoid arthritis patients, previous organ or bone marrow/stem cell transplants, cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD and those on specific immunosuppressant medications.
Shielding means not leaving your home at all for 3 months and minimising all contact with other household members for the same time.
Although the national guidance on this may change, patients will be identified by the NHS as high risk by the 29/3/20 if you think you may be in this category of patients and have not received a letter please register on the following link and then contact the surgery – (you will be asked for your NHS number – can be found on your prescription).

Online appointment booking will be temporarily suspended so that all patients who are booking appointments can be asked the relevant questions.
All patients, visitors and staff will also have their temperature checked every time they enter the building.

Anyone with respiratory symptoms will be asked to wear a mask when entering the building whether being seen by a nurse, HCA or doctor.

Notice of our proposed merger of the Patient Lists of Bakewell Medical Centre and Tideswell Surgery
Bakewell Medical Centre & Tideswell Surgery have worked closely together since April 2015 as the Peak & Dales Medical Partnership. During this time we have continued to run the two surgeries with separate patient lists.
However, after careful consideration we feel the benefits to our patients of bringing the two practices together will be very beneficial so we have decided to formally merge on Wednesday 1st April 2020. This will mean that the two separate patient lists will be merged into one.
The merger improves access to services, protects your local surgeries and will mean that patients can be seen at either site by a GP or nursing staff. There will also be increased availability in terms of hours offered with both Practices offering extended opening hours in the evening and early mornings.
The merger will not affect how you contact the surgery whether that be by telephone or face to face. Further information will be provided nearer to the proposed merger date.

The government has announced that cost of NHS prescriptions are to rise.
Coming into affect from April 1st 2019, the price will increase by an extra 20p, taking the current price per item from £8.80 to £9.
However, the cost of prescription prepayment certificates (PPC) will stay the same.

We will continue to provide you with the prescription service as we always have and very much appreciate your loyalty.
Tideswell Surgery is registered as a "Safe Place" for people with a learning disability who live in Derbyshire. All our staff have been trained to help patients who come into the surgery to be kept safe.

If you have not already registered, you can register with the receptionist, she will give you log in details and password to start.
The SystmOnline app is now available on Apple devices running iOS 8.
There is limited parking available at the surgery, with a disabled parking bay, please display your blue badge.
Also there is a hearing loop located in reception to assist patients who have hearing aids.
