We would like to thank every single person who has helped us recently. From the brilliant flooring and plumbing companies who have done work on Tideswell surgery, to everyone who has so kindly donated PPE to us, to those who have donated other supplies and others who have offered accommodation to our staff. The kindness of people is very touching and humbling in these difficult times.

The corona virus pandemic is by far the worst threat to our health worldwide we have seen in our lifetime, these are very challenging times for all of us. Thank you to everyone staying at home or supporting others to isolate themselves – particularly if you are supporting someone vulnerable, elderly or frail. We are seeing the best side of human nature but many are still not following the guidance.

NHS England have asked us to work with other local GP surgeries to come up with a plan to care for the most poorly people affected by COVID in our area whilst at the same time try to keep local GP surgeries open, staffed and providing essential care to our patients. Our own staffing levels have already been heavily affected by the virus so to protect health care services in your area for the duration of this pandemic, we need to act.

We sincerely hope that no-one in the North Derbyshire Dales will need the service now set up in Tideswell. If someone is well enough to travel to the surgery who has ANY symptoms of corona virus and needs to be seen face to face by a doctor, we have set up 5 fully equipped isolation rooms. Each room has facilities and equipment for us to safely assess and then look after people if they need to be taken to hospital by ambulance. This is a very tightly controlled environment and compliant with all safety and cleaning advice as issued by the government and public health England. Staff will be wearing full PPE for any patient contact and we have a dedicated area for children if needed.

The highest priorities are that we can provide SAFE and COMPASSIONATE care to all our patients. There will be no risk or consequences to local residents due to this temporary way of working at Tideswell surgery during this pandemic. We have received unbelievable support but we are also aware of the concerns and worries of others. Tideswell is a central location to provide this facility, and will also provide emergency care for patients from Eyam, Bradwell, Baslow, Hope and Hathersage surgeries if needed.

Thank you all for being so kind to others and adapting to changes in your local surgery which will enable us to keep providing health care for as long as possible to all people in the North Derbyshire Dales. If Tideswell patients need to be seen for routine matters they will be asked to attend Bakewell surgery. The dispensary is still running in Tideswell because it can be kept completely separate from the area designated for possible Covid patients.

Coronavirus Information 

 

OPEN SURGERY will be suspended with immediate effect and all patients will be phoned back by a clinician. 

Dear patients, it is a big concern to us that some people locally think we will not be affected by the corona virus. Currently there are patients with the virus who are critically ill in Chesterfield and Sheffield. As doctors we suspect we have been seeing cases in Bakewell and the surrounding areas since early this year. In the NHS we are all working hard to keep people safe and well, PLEASE make sure you and your family stay at home and follow the government’s advice. Thank you from the doctors at Bakewell and Tideswell surgery. 

 

DUE TO INCREASED DEMAND 72 HOURS IS NOW NEEDED TO PROCESS ROUTINE PRESCRIPTIONS FROM WHEN THEY ARE REQUESTED. PLEASE DO NOT RING THE SURGERY OR CHASE A PRESCRIPTION UNTIL THE 72 HOURS HAS PASSED. THANK YOU.

Prescription collections times are now: 

9am-11am and 2.30pm-4.30pm Mon-Fri.

This is now being done through a window in the surgery to ensure safer delivery.  You will be asked to pay by contactless card when possible to reduce infection risk.

If you are struggling to collect your prescription because you are unable to get out please contact us on or call reception if you do not have access to the internet. 

Please order medications online wherever possible using either the NHS app or Patient Access App. This will help keep you safe in your home and will reduce contact.

You will not have to provide ID at this time to be able to register for online access in order to obtain your medication.

 

Anyone needing to be seen at the Surgery will be have a telephone call from a GP first and will be asked questions with regards to coronavirus symptoms.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VERY VULNERABLE PATIENTS

 

                 

 

The NHS are sending letters out to certain people who are advised  to ‘shield’ themselves for 12 weeks due to them being at high risk of covid 19.

 

The need to do ‘shielding’ rather than self-isolation or social distancing, only applies to a small number of our patients of whom most have already been contacted e.g. cancer patients on active treatment, those people with no spleen, rheumatoid arthritis patients, previous organ or bone marrow/stem cell transplants, cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD and those on specific immunosuppressant medications.

 

Shielding means not leaving your home at all for 3 months and minimising all contact with other household members for the same time.

 

Although the national guidance on this may change, patients will be identified by the NHS as high risk by the 29/3/20 if you think you may be in this category of patients and have not received a letter please register on the following link and then contact the surgery – (you will be asked for your NHS number – can be found on your prescription).

All patients, visitors and staff will also have their temperature checked every time they enter the building.

Anyone with respiratory symptoms will be asked to wear a mask when entering the building whether being seen by a nurse, HCA or doctor. 

 

We are not allowing walk in patients.

Notice of our proposed merger of the Patient Lists of Bakewell Medical Centre and Tideswell Surgery

 

  • Bakewell Medical Centre & Tideswell Surgery have worked closely together since April 2015 as the Peak & Dales Medical Partnership. During this time we have continued to run the two surgeries with separate patient lists.

     

  • However, after careful consideration we feel the benefits to our patients of bringing the two practices together will be very beneficial so we have decided to formally merge on Wednesday 1st April 2020. This will mean that the two separate patient lists will be merged into one. 

  • The merger improves access to services, protects your local surgeries and will mean that patients can be seen at either site by a GP or nursing staff. There will also be increased availability in terms of hours offered with both Practices offering extended opening hours in the evening and early mornings.

     

  • The merger will not affect how you contact the surgery whether that be by telephone or face to face. Further information will be provided nearer to the proposed merger date.

The government has announced that cost of NHS prescriptions are to rise.

Coming into affect from April 1st 2019, the price will increase by an extra 20p, taking the current price per item from £8.80 to £9.

However, the cost of prescription prepayment certificates (PPC) will stay the same.

You may have received a letter containing our name or an NHS logo delivered to your address offering you free medication delivery, again they are not connected to us and you do not have to use them.

We will continue to provide you with the prescription service as we always have and very much appreciate your loyalty.


Tideswell Surgery is registered as a "Safe Place" for people with a learning disability who live in Derbyshire.  All our staff have been trained to help patients who come into the surgery to be kept safe.
